My problem isn't as bad as yours, my cat just drools and has hairballs a lot, but what I do is use a carpet shampooer. It looks like a vacuum cleaner and is usually sold next to them in stores. It has a "tool" setting where you can use a little hand-held part to take stains out of furniture. It squirts shampoo & water into the furniture and then sucks it right out along with the mess. For the cat who self mutilates I just bought some R-7 Liquid Bandage Spray for cats. it protects wounds and has a bitter taste so the cats won't lick.
