Ever make your own cat condo?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat condos

My husband and I are thinking of constructing a cat condo for our boys. Does anyone have any advice from past experience? Any really easy but fun plans out there?

Check out some of the plans in the link I have provided. Sonotubes are available at builder supply stores, or probably Home Depot, etc. Sonotubes are often used for the curved perches. I find my cats love their curved perches, although I purchased a quality cat tree, several in fact.

Easy and fun all depends on your skill and availability of materials. Affixing the carpet sometimes is a major challenge, as they will claw on it. If you wrap sisal on one of the poles, use un-oiled sisal.

My father made one for my cat several years ago. He used used plywood and particle board and stapled carpet scraps around it to create cat furniture

I’ve done a couple. Or I should say, I’ve made one, and my boyfriend made another. I made a fairly elaborate construction using some boxes after a move. There were several levels, and windows in it, and one side was covered in rough apholstery material for scratching on. My cats enjoyed it for several years before it wore out. The one my boyfriend made is sturdier – made from a tough cardboard mold for concrete. He cut holes in it for the cats to get in and out of, and covered it in burlap. They love it.
