Why is my cat ripping her cat toys?
Posted by: admin : Category: cat toys
My 2 1/2 year old female cat has been tearing up her cat toys. She has had the toys for 4 months and played with them. Out of nowhere the other day she ripped all 3 of them. A poof ball, a mouse, and another poof ball. I bought a 12 pack of mice because I knew she would rip them and I only gave her one. Last month she ripped her old one. Now the new one is ripped too. There are 11 mice left and I put them away. So why does she rip her cat toys?
because when she is playing she views the toys as her "kill" so she will bat, carry, pounce, and rip them apart. She is enjoying her self so dont limit her play or she may start causing trouble else where.

It could be that you haven’t cut or polished her claws. If she chews them, then its a Habit for her. She old enough to a point where she got use to ripping her toys.

It’s fun and also her way of mimicking the behavior she would have in the wild when she would hunt and tear her prey to bits before eating. With manufactured food being easy to eat she can’t do that at meal times.

I’ve got a cat that’s super destructive like this too.
Try to buy really well built toys, and when you notice they’re damaged take them away. You don’t want him to ingest toy parts.
