Posted by: admin  :  Category: cat toys

My cat needs more exercise. not only do i need toys that he will play with i need good toys to train him with. i know cats can be trained i had a book once from the public libary on the subject. He does some things like walk in front of me while im in the dark hallway. & of course he likes running his nails on the furnature. He started to do this when he wanted food…..ah now he does it & i dont think he knows why…..

Hi there…one of the best toys that cats truly love are cardboard boxes and paper bags. They love the challenges of using their imagination with these and with the cardboard boxes you can cut various shapes and sizes to encourage them to stick their paws through to find toys hidden within them as well.

Consider a great training technique we use with our exotic cats called "101 things to do with a box" http://www.clickersolutions.com/articles/2001b/101.htm . This mentally stimulates cats mind to think for themselves and are steps to help you train your cats for more advanced behaviours such as sit, down, wave, high-five, etc.

Cats are very good at getting your attention when they want something. You can try spraying him with a water bottle for things like that. If you put a little bell on your cats collar maybe it will help you to know where he is in the dark. The best toy I have found for my cats and dog is a laser pointer. They never lose interest in chasing that red dot.

We have bought our cat a ton of tons, and usually they lose them. What I found though, which made me laugh, is that the simplest things can provide them with hours of entertainment and exercise! At Christmas we discoverd that the cats loved playing in the empty boxes and would do so for hours on end! It now is something we keep downstairs so they can play and hide and strach away. We replace them whenever we get something new or go to the grocery store. They are free and I guess fun!

Right in your own home !
They love to play with twist ties that come with plastic garbage bags, they love to jump in boxes and play in paper bags. You can attach a feather to a string and play that with your cat. Be creative! We taught our cat to play "pickle in the middle". He would sit between my daughter and I, and we would throw a scrunched up alum. foil ball, and he would jump to catch it, then he would put it back down for us to throw again. Awesome.

You could always go to the pet store and browse around, But this may sound strange… get a lazer light! They love it. Just flash it on the floor and wall and they will run forever after it! Good luck
