Here Kitty, Kitty

I have this lovely friend who absolutely adores cats – so much so she turned part of her house into a cat sanctuary. The foreign ones that she has, she reproduces them. Now, there are almost twelve cats that are staying with her in her home. Like a little house small enough for cats to stay in, she made it with the ramps, windows, and covered porches. There are also runways for cats and rooms using little shelves. If cats have beauty products, she had those as well. The cats also have their own sleeping tunnels and beds, only miniature though. Sometimes she will send me a video of one them sleeping in a tunnel, thinking she is hidden – and then one of the younger cats comes racing through it and pounces on the one who WAS sleeping oh so soundly and peacefully. It is a riot!

Cats, same as raccoons, dogs and bears, were considered to have came from a specie that aged 50 million years before but no longer continues to exist, called the Miacas. In comparison to a weasel, they have claws that can be retracted if they will it.

Egyptians cherished their wildcats. They even train them as pets during 3500 B.C. Egyptians commemorated their hunting abilities by molding art works of them. They also felt that the cat’s eyes possess the sunlight. Around 1500 B.C., cats were believed to be a divine being. Death was the punishment for those who killed cats. When a person’s much-loved pet cat passed away, the body was preserved and the pet owner had their eyebrows cut off to signify their mourning.

Cats were transported by Phoenician and Greek traders to Europe and Asia by 1000 B.C. They remained to be awed for their knack for hunting and curbing the rodent populace.

In 1871, the pioneering cat show was organized in London, England, followed by the pioneer cat association in 1887. And for those who so much love cats, the rest is in the past.

At one time, my mother was sick, I had to do my errands. A friend of hers said she would stay with her while I was gone. Mom and Lucy at that time were both over their senior years. I found them both asleep on each couch in the living room by the time I arrived home. Lucy was in deep sleep that she wasn’t awoken by mom’s cat settling on her chest. The cat was staring at her mouth and nose, even observing her snores. I think she was awed by what she observed and it enthralled her. When Lucy took breathes, the cat and her chest went up and down at the same time. I woke my mother up so she could share in this hilarious and precious moment. As soon as Lucy woke up herself, she gazed at the cat’s curious eyes. At first, she thought she was dreaming, but it became clear to her that she was in reality when she overheard me and mom giggling. On occasions, they recalled that most memorable experience and even into her old age.

Our feline friends have given us hours of affection and quiet moments with a feeling of satisfaction. They have also been a source of laughter and enjoyment because of their curious tricks. Loving and caring them back aren’t enough to make a happy feline that’s why there are other items in the market that can make them feel relaxed and contented. Purrcisely!
