Maybe. Just try to search it. Actually, there are lots of stores esp. pet shops which sells scratching tools. You check them and not considered Wal Mart alone. there are types of scratching tools that are not available in Wal Mart. Try to look for the most appropriate posts for your cats. It could be from scratching poles, cradle, and even boards.

The WalMart around me (canada) sells them.
I bought two for my cats and they had 3 scratching poles with a cat house on top.
They loved it!
It depends on which WalMart you go to. Usually the larger WalMarts in suburban areas have a larger variety of products in their pet care section (or at least-that's what I've noticed so far). I know for sure I've seen a few of these huge cat scratching posts at a WalMart before so just try shopping at different locations, you'll find one eventually.

Yes. Wallmart sells everything but u might have to shop around to get the right one scratchy pole that u want and that is best suited for your cat. The bigger ones can get quite costly so take your time to buy the right one.

Maybe they don't have them on stock, but if you ask a sales person they may show you a catalog and take your order.

If you want you could also try your local pet supply stores - they sometimes also have good ones on sale.

You don't want anything less then 4-5 feet tall. I'd have one larger treeehouse on each floor. And you might want to consider two kittens if the kitten is under 6 months old so they have someone to play with.

When you do decide on how many please make sure the cat can stretch its entire body length on it. That means reaching up as far as it can. This will ensure your cat uses it and they love the stretch and pull of a scratching post also make sure it has a big and sound platform and is secured tightly on it you don't want the cat to pull it over.
how many cats? are they scratching anything else, I have 2 cats but only one post-which I've had for almost 13yrs. It's just a long board with rope around it with a ball on the end. (they probably don't make it anymore) so I'd get one and see how the cat (s) like it. one for each floor should be plenty I would think.

I try to have 1 cat scratch post per cat. I only have the little ones, cause I couldn't afford the bigger cooler ones. It works out well. They even picked out which ones they like best. They'll share just fine, but it's nice that they have fav ones. :) I find it cute.

P.S. Spread 'em out to their fav spots too. I have one in my bedroom, one in the living room, & one in the kitchen.
